I had an excellent experience at Hemlock Dental Clinic. I went there last week for a dental cleaning, and I was honestly very impressed with the quality of care. I have always been quite nervous about dental cleanings, but the dentist was extremely gentle, professional, and careful. The entire procedure was done without the slightest pain or discomfort, which was a wonderful surprise for me. I really appreciate the dentist and the entire team for making the experience so comfortable and stress-free. Thank you for the excellent care and professionalism. I highly recommend Hemlock Dental Clinic to anyone looking for a caring and professional dental clinic.

I had a dental emergency. The dentist cancelled her own lunch to accommodate me (she never told me this but the front desk confirmed it). The dentist listened to my concerns and expertly fixed the problem. Honestly, I would give more than 5 stars if I could. I'm really grateful!

The first time I visited this clinic I showed up when they were closing, Zhina kindly let me in and Dr. Alavi checked my teeth patiently. After that, Dr. Alavi and her great assitants Maryam and Anandi, fixed my prolonged and difficult teeth problem in several very pleasant appointments. Dr, Alavi's skill and expertise are impeccable and most importantly, she really cares about her patients. Niki also always goes out of her way to help me out, doing extra work to make sure I get the best for my teeth, she also speaks madarin! Pendar is good at cleaning teeth too. Can't wait for my teeth to rot and I can give this great clinic another visit! ha

Excellent dental care. The male hygienist is friendly, professional and relaxed. Front desk staff and the dentist are wonderful. Prices align with the B.C. fee guide. They make sure that insurance is billed correctly. So happy that I switched to this dentist a couple of years ago.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help you feel calmer during dental treatment. It will help if you feel nervous about visiting the dentist or find longer appointments difficult. The level of sedation depends on your health and the treatment you need. Your dentist may also use local anaesthetic to numb the area being treated.

At Hemlock Dental Clinic, Dr. Alavi offers oral sedation, which means taking prescribed medication as directed before treatment. You usually stay awake but may feel sleepy and less aware of what’s happening. The effects can last for several hours, so you’ll need someone to take you home and stay with you as instructed.

Your team will check your health details and explain the plan before giving sedation. They’ll monitor you during treatment and check that you’re ready to leave afterwards.

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help you relax during dental care. With conscious sedation, you remain responsive, although you may feel sleepy. Local anaesthetic is often used too.

It can be, after an individual assessment. Health, medications and treatment needs all matter. Children may need a dentist with specific sedation training or care in a specialist setting.

Recovery depends on the medication and your response. Nitrous oxide usually wears off quickly, while oral or IV sedation can affect your alertness and judgement for up to 24 hours or longer.

Your dentist will review your health, medications and past experiences with sedation. You’ll discuss the treatment, possible risks and preparation instructions, with time to ask questions.

The medication helps you relax while the team monitors your response. Your dentist numbs the treatment area when needed and checks your comfort as the dental work progresses.
